Blast from the past: Public Records Saved

Found this news article in a family scrapbook.  The article is from the "Times Democrat" which I believe was one of the papers for Davenport, Scott County, Iowa in 1974.  We are so fortunate to have volunteers, like these historical society volunteers, who search out and save the records we use in our genealogical research.  (If only they could have saved the autopsy results from Scott County, Iowa in 1897 so I would know how & why my great-grandfather, John O'Connell, died in Davenport!)

The Scott County Historical Society was able to save records that were on schedule to be destroyed.

The article is dated the 23rd of April 1974.

Pictured in the article are James Bell, society treasurer, Edna Untiedt, president, Flora D. Wilson, and Mrs. Wendell Paxton.
